They gave me my own show on the FM band!

I mentioned the radio society in my first post - well, I've made my debut on the FM band. You can catch me for the next two Thursdays on Shock Radio 87.7 FM or www.shockradio.co.uk - listen in and text/phone/email in your requests!

This show is something a bit different to what I'm used to. I wanted to challenge myself. I'm used to playing on nsbradio.co.uk, doing continuous mixes, introducing the tracks, but letting the music do the talking... so now I'm doing a rock show with a lot more banter going on. Driving the studio desk AND presenting at the same time is a bit nerve-wrecking I can tell you! Luckily I have my new pal Sean Hill co-presenting with me. It's been good to have someone to bounce off.

If you're in London next Friday 24th November you can see me play my first gig in a while (and probably the last for a while) at The Synergy Project, at the SeOne - The UK's biggest club I believe! And a great night out that I've wanted to DJ at since I first went a couple of years ago.

Ciao for now.

Hello World!

Thank you for following that link and taking the time to find out about me and my life right now. You're probably a dear relative or friend, a clubbing mate, fellow student, or perhaps some random bloke or bird that I met on a great night out and put on my mailing list. Whoever you are, welcome to my blog! I hope you enjoy reading it.

I moved away from London recently and so haven't been in touch with a lot of people, yet there's been so much great stuff going on for me lately!!! I have a mailing list, but spam sucks, and I think a blog would be a much nicer way of staying in touch with you all.

So, the story so far:

I have moved to Salford, near Manchester, to study for a year, and I'm loving it! I'm in the final year of Professional Sound and Video Technology BSc. I was a bit worried about it all before I came here (naturally I suppose) but I've settled right in.

So why am I here? Well, I decided that I needed to get my degree, and I thought that would be a good opportunity for me to get away from London for a while. I've never lived anywhere else for an extended period. I don't know anyone up here either, or anything about the club scene, so I've been able to knuckle down without any distractions.

I live on the top floor of a fourteen storey towerblock in a flat with three other guys who are all sound. Our flat is small but it has everything I need - bathroom, kitchen, room with bed, desk, two windows (beautiful views) and free internet connection. It feels like my little mission control up here, where I shall spend the next few months becoming a genius.

Since I've been here I've been spending a lot my time with my brother who lives close by, which is great. Some of the conversations we've had lately have really made me think about where I am in life, where I've come from and what there might be ahead of me. He's always been the person who has brought me down to earth when I've had my head in the clouds. He's been very inspiring... watch this space!

I'm a member of two societies here - Shock Radio (which I'll talk more about later) and SucJugs :D The Salford University Circus and Juggling Society. Obviously moving away from London didn't shake off the DJ nor the hippy in me!

So, I'll be using this blog to tell you about what I'm getting up to generally, plus DJ gigs and radio appearences.

Hope you're all doing well wherever you are and whatever you're doing! Until the next post...
